They say a change is as good as a holiday, so take the quiz and grab some inspiration for change from today’s post by Trixie Maru
Change will do you good. Or how to break out of hooping ruts.
Getting into a hooping rut is so easy that you may find yourself – like me – in a rut and not even aware of it until quite some time has passed.
If you think you may be in a rut, but aren’t sure, take my little quiz.
1. I have had the same music on my iPod for longer than one month. TRUE/FALSE
2. I hoop in the same place more often than not.
TRUE/FALSE
3. I could probably do my hoop workouts asleep since they always follow the same pattern.
TRUE/FALSE
4. There are several tricks I can do on my dominant side/ in my dominant direction, but not the other way around.
TRUE/FALSE
5. I don’t really drop the hoop anymore during my practice sessions.
TRUE/FALSE
So hopefully it should be pretty obvious that if you’ve answered “True” to one or more of these questions, you are in danger of being in a hoop rut, and it’s time to shake things up!
There’s comfort in familiarity, but sometimes familiarity becomes a crutch. Take stock of your routine and see where there is room for adaptation. You will most likely find one area, if not more, where you can easily make some changes and reap the benefits immediately.
I could not believe how my workout was transformed simply by adding a few new songs to my iPod. This was so inspiring to me that I decided to hoop in my non-dominant direction, which in and of itself is no big deal, but then I felt so empowered that I tried to corkscrew up and down – something I had never attempted before. To my utter amazement, I discovered that I could do it!
Remember that if your hoop is not falling down, that means that you’re not trying anything new. This may be good for your ego in the short-term, but Hoop Boot Camp is all about transforming ourselves over the long(ish) term, so go out there, blast some new tunes, change your space, switch your direction, and drop your hoop like there’s no tomorrow!
