As I sat on a mat in the park this morning after a Laughter Yoga session I spoke to my friends about the Acroyoga session I was going to at another park later on that afternoon. One of my Japanese friends said “there is everything yoga” She is right, in a physical sense just about every form of yoga has emerged in the West (and Japan).

Acroyoga in the park – I enjoy being the base
Hot yoga, trance dance yoga, yin yoga, baby yoga, power yoga, artistic yoga, dream yoga even hoop yoga.
Just as there are many forms of physical yoga the meanings of the Sanskrit word yoga are many. Yoke, join, bind, unite. Yoga, beyond it’s physical asanas is the union of mind, body and spirit. Physically strengthening, spiritually nurturing and mind calming.
One thing that binds many flexible and free flowing hoop dancers is yoga, a regular practice of all it’s elements.
Every now and then I stumble upon this phrase, “Yeah not really into yoga, tried it a few times it was boring” My response is”that was not yoga that was stretching” There is a huge difference and I strongly urge you to view Yoga in a holistic light, then google yoga studios in your area. Find an inspiring yogi or yogini to practice with and enjoy the unity, the swirling physical and spiritual evolution that yoga provides. You will thank yourself for it and I can 100% guarantee that your hoop dance will benefit intensely.
Videos of the Day:
Question of the day: What has been your experience with Yoga?
Action of the Day: Even if for one minute today, fall still, quiet your mind and focus on your breathe.
Affirmation: I release resistance and embrace my personal growth.
Inspiration: Vogue and Self are putting out the message of yoginis as buff and perfect. If you start doing yoga for those reasons, fine. Most people get beyond that and see that it’s much, much more. ~Patricia Walden
